‘Nuevo Plano’ es el segundo sencillo que se desprende de ‘A Pesar De Todo’, el álbum debut de Supersilverhaze, el cuál saldrá el 7 de octubre de este año.

Esta canción es un puente entre lo que Supersilverhaze fue y lo que se han convertido. Como con otras canciones de la banda, un riff de guitarra repetitivo y saturado de fuzz, y un bajo punzante en los versos y ágil en los coros, predominan la canción. Ciertas líneas de estos dos instrumentos recuerdan a Melody’s Echo Chamber o Tame Impala en sus primeros lanzamientos. La batería se torna minimalista, eliminado los hi-hats por completo, y adoptando redobles del soul a la Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, para sazonar las vueltas.

Dentro de los nuevos elementos que Supersilverhaze ha incorporado a sus composiciones, en ‘Nuevo Plano’ destacan las percusiones. En especial en el outro de la canción, en la que el músico invitado y percusionista profesional Cuauhtémoc Rivera dio su ejecución tras decir ‘en esta voy a tocar como si no supiera tocar’, dando como resultado unas congas salvajes y poco sutiles, perfectas para el final épico de la canción.

En esta ocasión hay mucho énfasis en la voz y la melodía que carga, entregándonos líneas pegajosas que piden ser coreadas en vivo. Y es a través de la voz de ‘Nuevo Plano’ que se nos revela uno de los temas centrales del álbum: la mortalidad.
La letra habla de la vejez, del desgaste mental que trae la edad y de la inevitable conclusión: la muerte. Sin embargo, la letra se mantiene positiva, reflexionando en los coros sobre la vida después de la muerte y sobre la posibilidad de volvernos a encontrar en un nuevo plano.

En la canción hay dos momentos que llaman la atención y refuerzan la narrativa. Uno de estos es el momento donde la instrumentación corta súbitamente, tal como la vida cuelga de un hilo y en cualquier momento se va. La otra, el outro extendido en el que un riff de guitarra repetitivo imitando a un arpegiador, parece tornarse infinito; tal como almas dejando la Tierra y quizás dirigiéndose a un mejor lugar.

‘La idea de esta letra comenzó en noviembre del 2020, año que comenzó con el fallecimiento de mi abuelo tras años de perder facultades mentales y físicas, y meses después, el diagnóstico de demencia y Alzheimer de mi abuela. Originalmente la canción iba a ser un tributo a mi abuela. Sin embargo, comencé a escribir los versos la misma semana que internaron a mi papá en el hospital y unos días antes de su partida inesperada. En la canción combiné todas estas experiencias dolorosas. El coro llegó mucho tiempo después, yo creo que tras haber superado ya algunos traumas y tener una perspectiva menos triste.’ - Patricio

'Nuevo Plano' is the second single from 'A Pesar De Todo', Supersilverhaze's debut album, which will be released on October 7th of this year.

This song is a bridge between what Supersilverhaze was and what they have become. As with other songs by the band, a repetitive, fuzz-saturated guitar riff, and a throbbing bass on the verses and agile on the chorus, dominate the song. Certain lines of these two instruments are reminiscent of Melody's Echo Chamber or Tame Impala in their first releases. The drums become minimalist, getting rid of the hi-hats completely, and adopting soul rolls á la Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, to spice up the repetitions.

Among the new elements that Supersilverhaze has incorporated to their compositions, in 'Nuevo Plano' the percussion stands out. Especially in the outro of the song, in which guest musician and professional percussionist Cuauhtémoc Rivera gave his performance after saying 'in this one I'm going to play as if I didn't know how to play', resulting in wild and unsubtle congas, perfect for the song’s epic ending.

On this occasion there is a lot of emphasis on the vocals and the melody they carry, delivering catchy lines that beg to be chanted live. And it is through the vocals on 'Nuevo Plano' that one of the central themes of the album is revealed to us: mortality.
The lyrics speak of old age, the mental wear and tear that comes with age and the inevitable conclusion: death. However, the lyrics remain positive, pondering in the chorus about life after death and the possibility of meeting again in a new plane of existence.

There are two moments in the song that catch our attention and reinforce the narrative. One of these is the moment where the instrumentation cuts off suddenly, just as life hangs by a thread and can be gone at any moment. The other, the extended outro where a repetitive guitar riff imitating an arpeggiator, seems to become infinite; just like souls leaving Earth and perhaps heading to a better place.

'The idea for this lyric began in November 2020, a year that began with my grandfather's passing after years of losing mental and physical faculties, and months later, my grandmother's diagnosis of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Originally the song was going to be a tribute to my grandmother. However, I began writing the verses the same week my dad was admitted to the hospital and a few days before his unexpected passing. I combined all these painful experiences in the song. The chorus came much later, I think after I had already overcome some traumas and had a less sad perspective.' - Patricio
